SPEAKER HOUSE OF REPS & GAGDI RECEIVED FCE PANKSHIN GOVERNING COUNCIL, MANAGEMENT ON A THANK YOU VISIT

The Speaker House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, alongside the member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, today received the Governing Council and Management of Federal College of Education, Pankshin, now Federal University of Education Pankshin, on a thank you visit for falicitating the legal framework for the elevation of the institution from a Federal College of Education to a Federal University of Education, as recently signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Chairman of the Governing Council, Alh. Suberu Adagu Abubakar, disclosed that the purpose of their visit was to convey the appreciation of the institution's community to the Member Representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency and the leadership of the House of Representatives for initiating the process that made the age long dream of the institution of becoming a Federal University of Education a reality. Enumerating numberless advantages the institution stands to benefit by reason of its elevation to a University status, the Governing Board Chairman says Federal University of Education Pankshin will now have the privilege of producing professors, employing hundreds of manpower and admitting more students, while churning out more qualified teachers to arrest the dwindling standard of education in the country. Speaking on behalf of management of the institution, Provost of the College, Dr Amos Bulus Cirfat, says the institution is indebted to Rt Hon Gagdi and to the 9th National Assembly for making this historic development a reality, recounting how countless efforts were made in the past to achieve this feat, but to no avail. He was full of praises to the member representing PKK Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, for making it possible by sponsoring the bill that culminated in this cheering development. The provost disclosed that the FCE Pankshin Community will organize a civic reception in honour of Rt Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi, for his heroics in achieving this feat. Dr Cirfat appreciated the Speaker for finding Gagdi worthy as one of his trusted allies, and encouraged him to continue to give Gagdi the support that translated in his quintessential representation of the people of Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency. Responding, the Speaker appreciated the FCE Pankshin community for coming that far to show gratitude to Rt Hon Gagdi and to the House of Representatives, and by extention the National Assembly, for doing their job. He said the visit was a show of confidence on the Member Representing PKK and on the National Assembly as not reneging on their responsibility of enacting qualitative legislations for the good government of Nigeria.

He disclosed that the signed Federal University of Education Pankshin (Establishment)Act 2021 has been enrolled by the Supreme Court of Nigeria earlier in the day, while assuring that the law would be gazetted in a week time. The Rt Hon. Speaker took time to extol the sterling qualities of Gagdi, which made him (the speaker) embrace Gagdi as one of his most trusted allies. He described Gagdi as a dogged representative who is passionate about the wishes and aspirations of not only the people of Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency whom he represents, but the entirety of Plateau State as a whole. The speaker further charged the FCE Pankshin community, as an institution within Gagdi's constituency, to mobilize support for Gagdi's reelection, positing that it would be highly suicidal to discard a dogged representative like Gagdi, who is endowed with brains and resilience to pursue the needs of his electorate to a satisfactory end. Meanwhile, Rep GAGDI have left the country for a three days official function/oversights with his parliamentary counterpart in Turkey, Istanbul. He is expected to also visit the biggest shipyard in Istanbul and he is expected back in the country on Monday, 7th of February 2022.
