I AM TIRED OF BEING A TEACHER || DOKDUNA GORIP

“I am tired of being a teacher.”
It’s a statement many teachers whisper in moments of exhaustion, when lesson notes pile up, when students seem distracted, when the world overlooks the effort behind every educated mind. Yet, beneath that fatigue lies a calling far deeper than any profession; a divine assignment to shape destinies, ignite minds, and build nations one child at a time.
Teaching is not merely an occupation; it is a ministry of transformation. Every day, teachers plant seeds of knowledge, wisdom, and character; seeds that may take years to bear fruit, but when they do, they change generations. The satisfaction of seeing a student grow into a responsible adult, or hearing a former pupil say, “You inspired me,” is a reward that no paycheck can match. In the classroom, you are not just imparting knowledge; you are building confidence, nurturing dreams, and molding tomorrow’s leaders.

Scripture recognizes and honors this sacred task. James 3:1 reminds us that “Not many of you should become teachers… for you know that we who teach will be judged with greater strictness.” This is not a warning alone, it is also a mark of divine trust. God entrusts teachers with minds and souls, expecting them to guide with wisdom and grace. Proverbs 22:6 reinforces it: “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Teaching, therefore, is participation in God’s own work of shaping lives.

So, yes, some days, you may feel tired of being a teacher. But remember: even Jesus, the Master Teacher, faced weariness and rejection, yet He never gave up on His pupils. When you stand before your students, you stand in the footsteps of the greatest Teacher who ever lived. Your labour is not in vain; it is a legacy written on hearts, not just on paper.
