The Transition Implementation Committee Chairman for Mangu local Government Area of Plateau state Hon. Markus Artu ,on Friday 8, September Flagged off the second phase of the distribution of relief materials by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to Persons affected by the crisis in some communities in the Council Area.
The Flag off which took place at the Mangu local Government warehouse is part of the ongoing efforts by NEMA in collaboration with the State Government to address the hardship being experience by victims of the recent crisis within the council area.
The representative of NEMA Mr Akiote sahit, while speaking during the Flag off said the gesture is aimed at bringing succor to the affected victims, Particularly the vulnerable ones amongst them.
According to him, the crop seedlings and equipment are given to enable farmers to return back to their lands to stimulate crop production, inline with the federal government's aspiration to achieve food security in the middle of economic downturn.
Mr Akiote, also advised the beneficiaries to make proper use of the items given to them in order to improve their socio-economic conditions and cautioned them against selling the items.
Food items distributed, includes rice, beans, vegetable oil, salt,and seasoning cubes, while non-food-items includes mosquito nets, and mattresses, sewing machines, Agricultural inputs such as grinding machines, different varieties of seeds, water pumping machines, liquid fertilizer, pesticides, herbicides and knapsack sprayers among others.
In his remark, the Mangu local Government Transition Implementation Committee Chairman Hon. Markus Artu Commended NEMA on behalf of the State Governor Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, describing the intervention as timely.
Hon Artu while urging the beneficiaries to judiciously use the items, given to them, hinted, that the state Government under the able leadership of Governor Mutfwang is committed towards supporting and introducing programmes that will alleviating the socio-economic hardship of citizens of the State.
While speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ardo Mallan Umar, commended the agency for the kind gesture and also urged wealthy individuals in the society to emulate the good gesture of the government to assist the needy.
In a related development, the Langtang South Transition Implementation Committee Chairperson Hon. Mrs Dangfa, has presented relief materials worth millions of Naira on behalf of her council area to the Victims of the Mangu Crisis.
Hon. Dangfa, who led a high powered delegation which includes Party Chieftains and some stakeholders from Langtang South, said they are in Mangu to sympathize with the Government and the good people of the area over the recent unfortunate attacks in the area which claimed many lives and Properties destroyed.
The Langtang South Chairperson also said they had delivered relief materials to the families of the victims and other affected persons earlier before arriving at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of the Mwaghavul Nation.
Speaking on behalf of the Mishkagham mwaghavul, the District Head of Bunga DA Danladi Denan, appreciated the Langtang South Chairperson and her entourage for identifying with them in their moment of distress while praying for the return of total Peace to the State.
In his Response, the Mangu TIC Chairman Hon. Artu, commended his Langtang South Counterpart and her delegation, describing the visit as one which has further strengthened the bond of friendship between the Two Council Areas.
He thanked them for responding to the plight of his people and prayed for God’s guidance and protection as they returned to their various homes.
