I am still in shock of my experiences over what happened during the Kauru supplementary election which to me was a daylight fraud and a crime against humanity. I escaped being badly injured or even killed 3 times at the venue. But that isn't the issue here.
The first shocker was the fact that two local government chairmen accompanied with armed thugs and uniformed police men chased the electorates that were perceived as not going to vote for the APC candidate.
Until we discontinue this pathetic culture of using armed thugs to subvert the popular will of the people, we will amount to nothing. That same culture we use against others will turn out to work against us one day. Until we can see beyond our greed, personal interest, and correct the past, the future is in danger. We are poisoning our future with the mistakes of the past. Although we cannot change the past, but we have the potential to chart our destiny and arrange a better future for our children.
I hold that Barnabas Haruna, the member elect as a very good man. from what I gathered of him, he is result oriented. He has the capacity and the maturity to represent Kauru in the State House of Assembly. Out of these qualities I voted for him in the first ballot, but I regretted after what I saw during the supplementary election. He himself knows that the process that brought him wasn't credible and his conscience must judge him.
In broad daylight Men and Married Women were humiliated, beaten and injured. They chased every body away from Kahuta polling unit 003 except their supporters and those who agreed to sell their votes. One will always want to ask, why would those saddled with responsibility of safeguarding the people use teargas to chase away a selected demographic from exercising their civic right
Again, I am pained the more over the fact that I saw a local government chairman with my two eyes led a band of thugs to chase electorates calling them arna (infidels), and the candidate of the APC is also a Christian, an infidel as it applies. So who is fooling who?
One thing I will want the member-elect to note is that the same people that chased the Christian men and women calling them arna (infidels) will one day chase your sister and your brothers' wives to manipulate election against you. Yes! it will happen because politics is interest, but the interest is not fixed, it changes. (Dr. Isaac is a reference).
You might have stolen the seat but you don't have the mandate and it will hit when you least expect... BELIEVE THAT...Integrity is the essential prerequisite for successful leadership.
Leadership is the ability to influence others through inspiration bred by a passion, motivated by a vision, birthed by a conviction and produced by a purpose--not by disenfranchising people on the basis of faith, not by subverting the popular will of the people and imposing unpopular will on the people.
As for Yohana Gandu Chawai, kindly be comforted with the word of Dr. Martin Luther King, "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope"
