[PILGRIMAGE] ORIENTATION FOR INTENDING PILGRIMS OF DELTA State || NCPC

Today marks an important day in this state as about 315 intending pilgrims of Delta State will be commencing their Pilgrimage journey to Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan for the 2021Main/Easter 2022 Pilgrimage exercise.

I want to sincerely congratulate all of you for your level of preparedness both spiritually and physically to embark on this journey of Faith.

My special thanks go to the Executive Governor of Delta State, H.E, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa for his consistency in the sponsorship of christians in the state on Pilgrimage.

It is indeed a known fact that he has been able to advance the cause of Christian Pilgrimage in Delta State and Nigeria at large.

It is important to recall with nostalgia that during the peak of the COVID 19 pandemic, Senator, Ifeanyi Okowa was the only governor in South South who sponsored Christians to the Holy land in the 2020 maiden Pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Jordan, where every Deltan that went on that Pilgrimage returned to Nigeria without any single case of abscondment.

It is germane to state at this juncture that all the intending pilgrims of this batch will be making history for being part of this year's exercise as the Commission will be having for the first time ever a joint Pilgrimage exercise which will enable the pilgrims to visit Holy Sites in two countries- Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan.

The Commission frowns seriously against abscondment. Our policy on it is to achieve zero abscondment during Pilgrimage.

Deltans are known for their resilience, doggedness, patriotism and  hardwork; consequently, the feat that was recorded during Jordan Pilgrimage should be replicated in this Pilgrimage exercise.

Abscondment is not good for the image of any Pilgrim, state or nation. It should be discouraged in its entirety. I urge all of you to please say capital NO to abscondment.

I enjoin you our intending pilgrims of inestimable value to be good ambassadors of Christ, your state and Nigeria, and ensure you conduct yourselves  decently in the Holy land.

I want to assure you that the Commission has put every mechanism in place to ensure a hitch free Pilgrimage exercise.

Finally, while on Pilgrimage I urge you to pray for yourself, family, the state and for a smooth transition to a new democratically elected government in Nigeria come 2023.

Rev. Dr. Yakubu Pam

Executive Secretary, Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission.

Thank you, God bless you all,

And May God Bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria 🇳🇬
